WHO IS SHE?

She was so tired and yet,

she’d never felt more alive.

She was starving and yet,

she’d never felt more whole.

She was surviving off minimal sleep and yet,

She’d never felt more awake.

She was excited for their future and yet,

She couldn’t help but worry about it all too.

She wanted to let them run wild & free and yet,

She wanted to keep them wrapped up safely in her arms at the same time.

She had a million different roles to play and yet,

There was only one that was really important.

She knew that it was going to be hard and yet,

She didn’t realize it would be hard in a million other ways different to what she’d originally imagined.

She was afraid of the big things and yet,

She was afraid of the small things too.

She adored watching each stage and yet,

She begged time to stand still even just for a little while.

She looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize herself and yet,

She knew that she was still in there somewhere even if she had been split distinctively in two.

He was her little boy and yet,

One day he would be a man made up of half of her and half of him but he would be completely his own person too.

She was holding on so tight like her life depended on it and yet,

She knew someday that she would have to let go, even though she didn’t want to.

Who is she? She is a mother.
